On a very wet Thursday evening, Berkhamsted ladies played Kings Langley ladies in a Friendly and a League game. The friendly rink abandoned the game half way through with the Berkhamsted ladies, Marion Maynard, Mary Willbee, Mary Cave and Lesley Brown in the lead but the League side of Carole Dunn, Mary Millar, Mary Clarke and Marcia Pearce had to play all 21 ends before getting in from the torrential rain, happily with a win for Berkhamsted 33 -10. The same evening the men narrowly lost by 1 shot to Bushey in the Watford & District Ray Cup. Ken Maynard skipped Berko’s top rink with John Webb, Alan Parsons and Terry Kenyon.
Berkhamsted men achieved 2nd round success in the County McMullen Cup beating Hemel Hempstead 66 - 47. Top rink was skipped by Kevin Clarke with David Sear, Eric Millar and Alan Medland.
David Brown won his County Singles match against Mike Sooby of Garston and another round of the Watford & District pairs with Kevin Clarke. Terry Kenyon also had success in the Watford & District singles competition beating Len Harris of North Watford 21-15.
On Saturday the Club Vice Captains Mary and Kevin Clarke ran a competition with a topical Wimbledon theme with 14 teams of triples playing in varying shades of purple and green under the names of famous tennis players. The Final saw Bjorn Borg beat Jimmy Connors by the smallest of margins. The Borg team consisted of Eric Millar, Albert Adams and Marion Maynard
