Jackie Cormack has beaten Val Dawe of Bushey BC to reach the final of the County 2-wood competition to be held at Townsend BC on Wednesday 25th July.  She plays Linda Newby of Harpenden BC in the final at 10am.  This also means that Jackie will represent Hertfordshire in the English Women's Bowling Association National Finals at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.  Her first match is a 2pm on Monday 30th July against Cornwall.

Berkhamsted ladies continued their unbeaten record in the Watford & District League with a win on Thursday evening against Watford Ladies on both the league and friendly rinks.  Not to be out-done Berko men have scored maximum 6 points each match with successes on all rinks against Bovingdon, British Legion and North Watford in the West Area League during July.  They hope to continue this run when they host Croxley Guild in Round 3 of the McMullen Cup on Friday 27th.

Mary Millar and Marcia Pearce reached quarter finals of Watford & District Pairs after beating a Tring pair.  Triples team, Alice Biggs, Mary Clarke and Marcia Pearce are also through to the quarter finals in the 2 wood triples after a close match eventually decided on 21st end by a measure against a Kings Langley trio.

Colin Cormack reached semi-final of the Watford & District Champion of Champions competition after being Ken  Sharp of Borehamwood BC.  If Jackie wins her first match at Leamington, Colin will need Hermione’s magic locket to enable him to support his wife at Leamington and play his semi final on 31st in Hertfordshire.  Club President, Terry Kenyon beat Les Roberts of Harperbury BC in the St Albans & District Officers singles 21-16.

On Saturday afternoon Berkhamsted Captains, Doreen Webb and David Lovett, led their respective teams out for the annual battle of the sexes  This year there were 3 winners, the men won the match 5 rinks to 1, the weather beat the teams with the torrential rain, but the overall winner was St Frances Hospice presented with a magnificent cheque for £612.45 raised by club members by raffles and an auction    Top rink for the men was Keith Little, Frank Dellamuro, Eric Varndell and Eric Millar.  Carole Dunn, Amanda Cox, Anne Cutting and Mary Clarke were the ladies winning rink.
