On Sunday morning Berkhamsted supporters turned out to cheer on 2 rinks of men playing the area semi-finals of the County League at Hemel Hempstead Bowls Club.  Berkhamsted beat Hemel by 8 shots on the rink skipped by Terry Kenyon with Ken Maynard, Bill Sharpling and John Webb and in spite of a loss on a challenging green by the other rink skipped by David Brown with Colin Cormack, Derek Cox and Kevin Clarke, Berko won overall.  After a good lunch put on by the Hemel club, Berko, with Eric Millar coming in as sub for Cox, took on Garston in the final.  Berko men had recently beaten Garston in the McMullen Cup semi-final and the Garston men were intent on revenge.  At first it looked as if Garston was going to gain the cup easily with both rinks well ahead but Berko men fought back to the enthusiastic cheers by supporters, and were all square on Brown's rink and a shot ahead on Kenyon's with 3 ends to go. A disastrous 19th and 20th end for Berko on Brown's rink secured the win for Garston in spite of a well fought draw on the Kenyon's rink.

Berkhamsted ladies have good representation in the Watford & District finals taking place during first week of September.  The Berko supporters club will be in attendance at Metropolitan Police (Bushey) club on Monday afternoon when two teams of triples take on Borehamwood in the final of the Jubilee Cup.  Then the supporters club travel to Potten End on Wednesday for the District semi-finals day to support Marion Maynard ,Ann Cutting and Jackie Cormack in the triples, and duo Mary Millar and Marcia Pearce in the pairs competitions.  The two wood triples teams of Judy Kenyon, Edie Coxhill and Mary Cave, and Carole Dunn, Anne Furlong and Jackie Cormack play other clubs in their semi-finals and hope to have an all Berko final at Friday's finals day.

Berkhamsted players found the Potten End green to their liking when 2 teams attended their recent gala and came 1st and 2nd.  Carole & Wally Dunne with Frank & Anne Furlong took 1st prize with the runners up being Pauline and Alan Medland with Beryl and Alan Parsons.
