Kevin Clarke and David Brown got the week off to a good start with an excellent 17 - 15 win in the St. Albans and District Pairs competition which puts them in the semi-finals to be played at Welwyn Garden City on Monday 31st July.  Also clinching a place in a semi-final is Colin Cormack who won 21 - 13 in the Watford and District mens singles, and Ken Maynard won through to his St  Albans and District Singles semi-final 16 - 21.

During the week four mixed rinks visited Cheddington Bowls Club and came away with a 87 - 61 victory.  Top rink went to Rita Wellam, David Lovett, Beryl Parsons and Terry Kenyon.

On Saturday the St Albans and District President, Graham Marriner, brought a team selected from the other clubs in the District to play against Berkhamsted men for the Presidents Shield.  Berkhamsted won the match and the shield by 99 shots to 67.  Berkhamsted's top rink was a triples team of Maurice Primo, Frank Cutting and Ken Maynard.  St. Albans Presidents adopt a charity during their year in office. This year Graham Marriner has elected to support the charity for Prostrate Cancer and to this end a "spider" raised £59.00.
