Berkhamsted men reached the final of the St Albans and District Jones Cup by defeating County Top Team champions North Mymms by 44 shots to 35. The final is to be played against St Albans Townsend on 2nd September at Potters Bar Bowls Club. Our home rink of Eric Lamb, Kevin Clarke, David Brown and Colin Cormack won handsomely 26 - 12 which gave the away rink of Bill Sharpling, Alan Parsons, John Webb and Terry Kenyon a nice cushion, which they used by keeping within 5 shots of North Mymms.

Berkhamsted ladies continued their winning run in the Watford and District Jubilee Triples. Carole Dunn, Janet Jackson and Mary Clarke won 24 -13 giving a good buffer to the team of Marion Maynard, Jackie Cormack and Anne Furlong who finished within 6 shots of their rivals giving the team an overall win by 42 shots to 37 to ensure their place in the semi-final, to be played against Herts Ladies at Tring on 23rd August.

A mixed friendly against St Albans Clarence Park resulted in a 82 - 20 win for Berko, with top rink going to Frank Furlong, Rita Wellam, Malcolm Wood and Mary Cave.
