Edie Coxhill has qualified to play in the National Finals at Leamington after an extremely exciting win in the Hertfordshire County Champion of Champions singles final against Margaret Moseley of Borehamwood.  The final was played under the new format of two 9 shot sets and one 3 shot set tie break.  With the match tied at one set apiece, Edie won the match with the last bowl of the tie break.

Edie was also successful in the County 2 wood singles Semi-final with a fine win over Janet Sellek of Bushey B.C.

Tony Perry had a very good win, 21 shots to 15, against Trefor Jenkins of Potten End in the Watford and District Champion of Champions.

Eric Lamb, David Brown and Tony Perry reached the Semi-Finals of the St. Albans and District Triples when they beat a team from North Mymms B.C. 23 - 13.

Carole Dunn, Anne Furlong and Doreen Webb have reached the Semi-finals of the Ladies Watford and District 2 wood triples after a 3 shot victory over a trio from Bushey B.C.

On Saturday the club lost a mixed friendly to Chess Vale 69 -73 despite a top rink effort by Marion Maynard, Alan Jones, Janet Jackson and Colin Cormack.

On Sunday we held our Annual "Captains Day", when ladies Captain, Anne Furlong and her 6 rinks of ladies took on husband and Mens Captain, Frank Furlong and his 6 rinks of men in the battle of the sexes.  This is a yearly event, played in such good spirit, that even Sundays rain could not dampen it.

Franks team of men risked all by beating the Ladies to retain the "Captains Plate".  I have it on good authority that Anne and Frank are still married and talking!

Anne's top team was Corrine Little, Lesley Hersee, Lyle Scott-Darling and Mary Clarke.

Franks top team were Eric Lamb, Alan Jones, Ken Maynard and Terry Kenyon.
