Berkhamsted Ladies had a very good week, led by Edie Coxhill, who won her first round County singles against P. Bigley of Oxhey B. C., the 2nd round of the Champion of Champions against Pat Gasgoine of Watford and got through to the semi-finals of the County 2 Wood Singles at Batchwood.  Jackie Cormack also made the Semi-finals of the County 2 Wood when she won at Harpenden.  Both Edie and Jackie are now just one win from the National Championships at Leamington Spa.

Edie, in partnership with Carol Dunn and Mary Lamb, also made the semi-final of the Herts. County triples competition.

Alice Sexton, Anne Furlong, Doreen Webb and Jackie Cormack beat Owls Ladies 17-15 in the Watford & District  League, and Judy Kenyon, Marion Maynard, Beryl Parsons and Mary Clarke won a friendly against Owls 22-11.

Doreen Webb and Anne Furlong moved to the next round of the County Pairs after an emphatic win against a pair from Herts Club.

The Ladies topped their week off with 3 matches to 1 win against Sele Farm in the National Top Ten Competition, The three wins were achieved by Edie Coxhill (singles), Carol Dunn, Anne Furlong and Jackie Cormack (triples), and Alice Sexton, Mary Lamb, Janet Jackson and Mary Cave (fours)

The Berko Men also had some notable wins this week, led by a terrific win at Borehamwood in the Ray Cup.  The rink of Wally Dunn, Alan Parsons, John Webb and Terry Kenyon winning by a sufficient margin to allow the team overall to win by 2 shots.

In the County Pairs, David Brown and Kevin Clarke won 24-14. Frank Cutting and Ken Maynard beat a pair from Garston whilst Eric Lamb and Tony Perry won 29-13 at Abbots Langley.

Eric and Tony also had an emphatic 22-13 win against a pair from Tring in the Watford & District Pairs. 

On Saturday a mixed friendly at Harperbury resulted in an honourable draw thanks to a top rink of Duncan Long, Jane Low and Alan Medland.
