The week got off to a good start with Tony Perry, Terry
Kenyon and Ken Maynard recording wins in the County singles. Terry Kenyon also
had a good win in the County Officers singles.
In the County pairs competition our teams did equally as
well with Wally Dunn and Colin Cormack winning 25 - 14 against a good team
from Oxhey. John Webb and Terry Kenyon won 22 - 6 against a strong pairing
from Hemel Hempstead and Frank Cutting and Ken Maynard knocked out another
Berko. team 21 - 11.
Eric Lamb and Tony Perry won well in the Watford &
District pairs 21 - 12 as did Kevin Clark and David Brown who beat a team from
Watford 28 - 18.
County triples teams of David Brown, Colin Cormack and
Tony Perry beat a Kitcheners side 17 - 12 and Derek Sanford, Frank Cutting and
Ken Maynard defeated a Hemel team 16 - 11.
Our Ladies pairing of Janice Murgatroyd and Lesley Brown
beat a good team from Rickmansworth 22 -19 in the Watford & District pairs.
The mens County League team however lost by 3 shots to
Met. Police despite a 28 - 18 winning rink of Jim Fulton, Bill Sharpling,
Colin Cormack and Wally Dunn.
Mixed triples teams however lost a friendly at Bushey 93
-122 and a local derby to Kitcheners 106 - 132. Lyle Scott-Darling,
Janet Jackson and Tony Perry were top rink at Bushey while Marion Maynard, Val
Atkinson, Dave Sear and Alan Parsons attained top rink versus Kitcheners.
A Mixed friendly at Winslow faired better however, winning
96 - 88 with John Shotton, Anne Cutting, Janet Jackson and Wally Dunn taking
the top rink spot.
