Berkhamsted Ladies started the week on a high with all 4
rinks winning there opening rounds of their respective County 4s ties.
Judy Kenyon, Marion Maynard, Janet Jackson, and Mary Cave beat Kings Langley
19 - 18. Carol Dunn, Jackie Cormack, Mary Clarke, and Anne Furlong beat
Bushey 25 - 14. Doreen Webb, Edie Coxhill, Alice Sexton, and Mary
Lamb beat Herts Club by 3 shots and Mary Millar, Janet Dellamuro, Ann Cutting
and Marcia Pearce beat Hemel 21 - 12.
In the mens County Pairs, Kevin Clarke and David Brown won
20 shots to 5 and Jackie and Colin Cormack had a narrow victory in the first
round of the National Mixed pairs.
The mens National Club Two 4's had a terrific 43 - 29 win
against strong Herts Club competition with Frank Cutting, Malcolm Wood, Alan
Medland and skip David Brown taking top rink honours.
In the National mixed fours 1st round Lesley Brown, Jackie
Cormack, David Brown and Colin Cormack beat a strong team from Potten End
24-12 to progress to the second round. In the Ladies County triples
competition the team of Jackie Cormack, Doreen Webb and Anne Furlong came from
behind in a thrilling finish to win 18 shots to 17 on an extra end.
In a mid-week Club friendly our Ladies narrowly lost to
Tring ladies by just one shot. Judy Kenyon, Audrey Syers, Anne Cutting
and Edie Coxhill were the overall top rink winning 21 shots to 12.
Mixed teams won at Townsend 86 -75 with top rink going to
Alan Dann, Alan Osborn, Carol Dunn and Derek Cox, whilst on Saturday 4 mixed
triples rinks out-bowled North Watford to win 114 - 52, with Dave Lovett,
Derek Saunders and Peter Moore top rink.
On Friday evening Berkhamsted men won through to the second
round of the McMullen Trophy by beating Mill End 65 - 50. Top rink went
to Peter Moore, Frank Cutting, Kevin Clarke and Wally Dunn.
