Berkhamsted Ladies had an exciting win against their old rivals Bushey in tha Watford and District Jubilee Cup. The outcome was in doubt to the last bowl of the game. The rink of Carole Dunn, Anne Furlong and Doreen Webb won by 6 shots and the rink of Edie Coxhill, Mary Clarke and Jackie Cormack staged a magnificent comeback to get within 4 shots of their opponents and secure a 35 - 33 win for Berko.
The Men however were not so lucky. Three rinks played a very strong team from Owls B.C. in the Ray Cup. The match finished all square after the requisite 21 ends, requiring all three rinks to go out again and play sudden death. With one bowl to come from Chris Leeks of Owls, Berko were holding a 2 shot advantage. Chris however held his nerve and drew shot wiping out the 2 shots and securing the win for Owls. "Well done Owls"
Terry Kenyon moved into the quarter finals of the St. Albans and District singles with a good win over Bill Webb of Welwyn Garden City, whilst Eric Lamb and Tony Perry also reached the quarter finals of the Watford and District pairs with a terrific 20 shots to 9 win against last years County Champions.
Another winner to move into the quarter finals of the Ladies Watford and District singles was Mary Clarke who beat her opponent from Oxhey by 22 shots to 15.
Berkhamsted's mixed triples teams won a friendly against Rivets Bowls Club 90 shots to 68 thanks to a top rink of Den Hobbs, John Webb and Mary Cave.
