Berkhamsted Ladies started the week well with County pairs wins for Beryl Parsons and Janice Murgatroyd 23-19.  Marcia Pearce and Mary Lamb were also successful in the same competition winning by 31-12, as were Alice Sexton and Mary Clarke who won by 18 shots to 12.

In the Watford and District triples two teams from the same club were unfortunately drawn against each other with Carol Dunn, Doreen Webb and Anne Furlong the winning team.

Edie Coxhill and Carol Dunn beat a pairing from Oxhey to win through in the Ladies over 55's pairs competition.

The Club's Men also had a good week with David Brown winning in the County singles. Wally Dunn and Colin Cormack winning in the County pairs as did John Webb and Terry Kenyon.

Eric Lamb and Tony Perry beat a strong pairing from Herts club in the over 55's pairs and Terry Kenyon and Eric Lamb had good wins in the St. Albans and District singles.

Mixed teams of Eric Lamb, Margaret Perry, Mary Lamb and Tony Perry had a good result in the Stockman-Winser Trophy, and Lesley Brown, Jackie Cormack, David Brown and Colin Cormack did likewise in the National Mixed fours.

The mens "Top 10" team lost by the narrowest of margins to Welwyn and District.  After losing the singles our pairs team led by one shot going into the last end only to drop 2 shots. The Triples team won their match so it all hinged on the fours team. They went into the final end all square on 19 shots each only to lose that end by less than an inch.

Three mixed triples teams also lost by 4 shots to Harperbury on Saturday despite the best efforts of top rink Marion Maynard, George Cannon and Tony Perry.

The week ended with lots of fun at our Vice Captains' Day with the Men dressed as women and women dressed as men.  The bowling could have been better but the spirit and joviality couldn't..  All the fun was rounded off with a super buffet laid on as usual by Anne Cox.  And to cap it all a spider on the day raised sixty pounds for the Hemel coronary care unit.
