The Berko quartet of Eric Lamb, Wally Dunn, David Brown and Colin Cormack beat a strong team from St. Albans Townsend to reach the final of the St. Albans District fours competition. The final is to be played at Harperbury B.C. on Saturday 11th September.
On the same evening our Pairs team of John Webb and Terry Kenyon narrowly lost their semi-final to Colin May and Steve Gentle of Welwyn Garden City B.C.
Earlier in the week saw the team of Lesley Brown, Jackie Cormack, David Brown and Colin Cormack fail by a narrow margin to reach the last 16 of the National Mixed Fours competition, when they lost the inter-area play off to a Bedfordshire team.
Mixed friendly teams also went down this week. Despite a terrific winning rink of 37 shots to 8 by Margaret Perry, Doris Mills, Murray Parkins, and Tony Perry we still lost overall to Dunstable by 4 shots. There was a similar story at Herts B.C. were a 6 rink match was lost 92 -118 despite a top rink from John Shotton, George Cannon and Jane Low.
