Berko pair win Watford & District Final.

Eric Lamb and Tony Perry won the District Pairs final when they beat a strong pairing from Met. Police by 13 shots. The final was played at the Metropolitan Police, Bushey Bowls Club on Saturday 4th September.  Well done Eric and Tony but "Watch your speed!!"

Berkhamsted ladies also had a good week, winning through to the final of the Watford & District Jubilee Cup in a thrilling game against Potten End.  The rink of Carole Dunn, Anne Furlong and Mary Cave came back from a deficit to tie their game.  The rink of Edie Coxhill, Mary Clarke and Jackie Cormack won by 5 shots to put Berko into the final on aggregate score. The final will be played against Kings Langley on Monday.

Berko Ladies will also be contesting semi-finals this week of the District singles, pairs and 2 wood triples.  "Watch this space"!

The Club competition finals were held this weekend and the scorching temperatures did not detract from the quality of the bowls played by all contestants.  The Mens Singles was won by Tony Perry who beat last years champion Derek Cox 21 shots to 19. The Ladies singles was won by Edie Coxhill who defeated a previous winner Judy Kenyon 21 shots to 15.

A terrific mens pairs final was won by Murray Parkins and Alan Parsons won beat our District Champions Eric Lamb and Tony Perry 21 - 18.  The ladies pairs was won by Edie Coxhill and Marcia Pearce who beat Jane Low and Beryl Parsons 28 -15.  Other singles successes were Terry Kenyon who beat Alan Dann in the mens 2 wood final.  Anne Furlong beat Mary Clarke in the ladies 2 wood final.

Carole Dunn became the first lady to win the Mixed Handicap singles when she beat Peter Grant.  Judy Kenyon beat husband Terry Kenyon in the Mixed Veterans singles.

Derek Saunders beat Peter Grant in the Novices singles.  In a real cliff hanger of a match Anne Furlong and Murray Parkins just pipped Marion Maynard and Frank Cutting 18 -16 on the last end.

Mary Miller, Eric Miller and Edie Coxhill beat Colin Cox, Janet Saunders and Janet Jackson in the mixed triples, and John Shotton, Maureen Cox, Eric Challis and Geoff Cawley beat Ernest Goldsmith, Jim Fulton, Marion Maynard and Eric Lamb in the mixed fours.
