On Saturday Berkhamsted played there last friendly game of the season when they entertained Rickmansworth in a 4 rink mixed triples match.  Winning on 3 of the 4 rinks Berko ran out comfortable victors by 79 shots to 51. Top rink was Jim Fulton, Carole Dunn and skip Mary Clarke who won by 23 shots to 11.

As always, the Berkhamsted Bowls Club season ended with the annual Presidents Match.

This was played on Sunday over seven rinks and involved a team representing the President - David Brown, doing battle against a team representing the Social Committee, managed by their Chairperson - Jackie Cormack. This fun game was full of much light hearted banter and it was Jackie's Social Committee team that eventually won the day with a score of 132 shots to 125. Top rink for the Presidents team was Rita Wellam, Frank Furlong, Mary Millar and skip Ken Maynard. Top rink for the Social Committee's side was Andrew Fenwick, Ian Fenwick, Jane Low and skip Tony Perry. After the match all 56 players and a dozen visitors sat down to a splendid meal cooked by Cynthia Wheatley.

A fund raising spider was played prior to the match, with the prize of a bottle of whisky being donated by fellow club members Carole and Wally Dunn. This raised a magnificent £100 which will go to the real winners of this very enjoyable day - Tring Athletic Football Club, to help with their new clubhouse appeal.
