The men from Berkhamsted Bowls Club made the short trip to Potten End for the 1st round of the McMullen Trophy, and in spite of winning on two of the three rinks they eventually lost by 47 shots to 51. Top rink was Peter Moore, Frank Furlong, Alan Medland and skip Wally Dunn who won by 21 shots to 15.

In the National mixed pairs Jackie and Colin Cormack progressed to the second round with a 23 shot to 15 win over a strong pair from Herts club. In the County men's pairs Kevin Clarke and David Brown progressed to the second round when they visited Hemel Hempstead and came away with a 19 shot to 15 victory. Kevin and David continued there winning ways with a 21 - 17 win in the 1st round of the Watford and District pairs. Not to be outdone, there were also wins for Wally Dunn and Colin Cormack by 21 shots to 16 over a very strong twosome from Owls, and for Eric Lamb and Tony Perry by 24 shots to 13. In the Watford and district triples Don Turner; Mike Low and skip Derek Saunders came away from Mill End with a notable 17 shots to 15 win and progress to the second round.

Met Police again proved a happy hunting ground for the Berko men in the county league on Friday evening. Both Berko rinks were victorious, with the best performance coming from the rink of Eric Millar; Frank Furlong; Mike Low and skip Derek Cox who won by 28 shots to 10.

 Berkhamsted Ladies  have had mixed fortunes. On Wednesday they visited Tring and won on all three rinks which contributed to an overall victory by 25 shots. Top rink was Anne Cutting; Rachel Hazzard; Janice Murgatroyd and skip Anne Furlong who won by 26 shots to 13. Saturday witnessed a very close encounter for ther Berko Ladies when they entertained a team from Northaw & Cuffley in the Top Ten competition. This produced a magnificent win by the four of Jackie Cormack; Mary Lamb; Lesley Brown and skip Mary Clark by 29 shots to 11 and an equally gritty performance by the duo of Mary Millar and skip Mary Cave who won the pairs by 21 shots to 17.With both teams winning on two rinks, it was the visitors who had the slightly better shot difference which see's them through to the next round by a 4 shot margin.

 The friendly games have produced mixed results. Berko got the better of Townsend in a three rink home match, winning by 63 shots to 47. Top rink was Dave Sear; Tom Cave; Janet Jackson and skip Edie Coxhill who won by 27 shots to 9. The visit of Bushey in a six rink match proved less rewarding. With both clubs winning on three rinks it was the visitors who won by six shots. Top rink was Frank Cutting; Sandra Dann; Howard Brown and skip Eric Varndell who won by nine shots.
