Eric Lamb; David Brown; Colin Cormack and skip Tony Perry made the best of the superb playing surface at Harpenden in the semi-final of the St Albans & District fours. The Berko quartet won by 7 shots and now go on to play in the final at Townsend on the 6th September.
After being behind throughout a very hard fought match the Berkhamsted ladies were in danger of spoiling their outstanding record in the County League. The team of Edie Coxhill; Mary Clark; Anne Furlong and skip Marcia Pearce produced something rather special on the last end to achieve a well earned victory by 21 shots to 19 over a team from Oxhey. The friendly rink of Carole Dunn; Pauline Medland; Jackie Cormack and skip Doreen Webb were just out gunned by 17 shots to 22.
On Saturday Berkhamsted entertained Herts in a 6 rink mixed triples match. In spite of winning 3 rinks each, the visitors ran out comfortable winners with an overall score of 113 shots to 94. Top rink for Berko was Jack Hazzard; Mike Low and skip David Lovett who won by 22 shots to 16.
On Sunday Berko again battled through the extreme temperatures, this time with more success. They got the better of a visiting team from Abbots Langley in a 5 rink friendly encounter with a score of 96 shots to 74. Top rink was Marion Maynard; Lyle Scott-Darling; Janet Jackson and skip Alan Medland.
