Anne Furlong was awarded her John's Trophy "Flash" (Badge) this week after representing the County 5 times in this prestigious National knock-out competition. Hertfordshire now play in the Zone Final against Surrey after victories against Kent and Essex.

Anne, together with partner Doreen Webb, has also progressed to the 5th round of the County Pairs with a 22 - 12 win over a Harperbury duo.

 Ken and Marion Maynard continue their winning ways in the National Mixed Pairs with a fine 27 shot to 10 victory in the area semi-final over a pair from Kitcheners.

 In the Watford and District, the pair of Wally Dunn and Colin Cormack produced a 20 shot to 16 win over a strong pair from Herts to progress to the 4th round. In the singles there were victories for John Webb by 21 shots to 12, and for Ken Maynard by 21 shots to 9

Berko men's Ray Cup campaign came to an end at neighbours Potten End on Thursday. Top rink for Berko was Eric Lamb, Alan Parsons, Colin Cormack and skip Tony Perry who won by 21 shots to 18, this after being 13 - 1 down after 10 ends.

Colin Cormack won his 1st round Champion of Champions match in a titanic struggle. Colin was 19 - 20 down going into the last end, but managed to secure the two shots necessary to see him through to the next round.

Lesley Brown, Janice Murgatroyd and skip Mary Clarke have progressed to the next round of the 3 wood triples with a 22 - 18 win over Herts, whilst in the 2 wood triples Mary Millar, Jackie Cormack and skip Janice Murgatroyd did even better with a 21 - 14 win over Pavilion.

 Eric Lamb, Colin Cormack and skip Tony Perry have won through to the 4th round of the St. Albans and District triples with an impressive 24 - 7 win over a team from Harpenden.

 In the midweek friendly match, Cheddington gave Berko a good run for their money when they visited Canal Fields for a four rink mixed match. The home team eventually won by 83 shots to 80. Top rink was Frank Cutting, Marion Maynard, Derek Saunders and skip Ken Maynard who won by 23 shots to 16.

 Over the weekend Berkhamsted proved to be far to accommodating in their two friendly matches. On Saturday they entertained Borehamwood in a 5 rink mixed triples match and lost by 91 shots to 61. Top rink was Judy Love, Mike Burton and skip Mary Clarke who won by 24 shots to 11.

Sunday provided no better fortunes with a visit to Abbots Langley for a 5 rink mixed match. The visitors went down by 118 shots to 99. Top rink was Carol Dunn, Derek Sandford, Frank Delamuro and skip Terry Kenyon with a 21 - 18 victory.
