GREEN MAINTENANCE - 22nd August 2006

This year Turfcare Leisure Services Ltd. , our contractor who looks after our green , decided to drastically scarify our green using a new piece of equipment, imported from Australia.  We were warned that the machine was quite "aggressive" in its scarification techniques and, as you can see, this proved to be true!!!

A team of 6 Turfcare staff, including the boss Tom James, spent over 3 hours scarifying, clearing the debris, and cutting the green.

Even Justin got in on the act, using one of the Australian Grayden machines to deeply score the surface of the green, removing large amounts of thatch and debris

(Is that boss Tom James in the background, kicking one of his machines??)

With 2 people scarifying, 2 people following with debris removal equipment, and 2 lads disposing of the rubbish, the work was completed in double-quick time, minimising any impact on use of the green for Club members.

So,. for those of you who often suggest our green should be dug up(!), we have gone a long way to doing this for you!  In fact, this work ensures that our green will continue to improve both in grass quality and also in enhancing your playing experience at Berkhamsted Bowls Club.
